Felon in Possession of Firearm Case Dismissed by Prosecution on Day of Trial

Criminal Defense Lawyer Brandon Sims was set to pick a jury on a Felon in Possession of a Firearm case is the 262nd District Court in Harris County, Texas on January 25, 2016. The defendant was facing 2-10 years in prison with up to a $10,000 fine. Over the course of the representation of the defendant, affidavits were secured to call into question the credibility of the two HPD police officers involved in the investigation. Additionally, a motion to suppress was filed alleging violations of the defendant's 4th amendment constitutional rights to be free from illegal searches and seizures. On the day of trial, the prosecution ultimately decided to dismiss the case because they didn't feel the testimony of the HPD officers was credible.
